Male call: Clothes don't make the man, but they help

Q I'm looking for men's style advice. I am currently approaching 40, single and want to look good when I get the chance to go out to dinner, bars, etc. I've never had much fashion sense or interest in it. I'd like clothing suggestions for warm-weather states, and maybe some styles to avoid. I also wanted to send along appreciation for your column published in Stars and Stripes. I mostly go without access to my favorite papers while working in the Middle East, and these editions are usually 4-10 days old when I get them. Without a doubt this column is the highlight.
